Liberty Common Celebrates Student-Athletes at 2025-2026 All-Sport Athletic Banquet

Liberty Common School honored the achievements of its student-athletes at the All-Sport Athletic Banquet, held Tuesday, May 26th at Liberty Common High School. The evening brought together families, coaches, and staff to celebrate a year of hard work, growth, and success across Liberty Common's 14 varsity sports programs.

A Year of Standout Performances

From the opening whistle of the fall season through the final events of spring, Liberty Common student-athletes turned in a remarkable year — highlighted by a state championship, multiple league and regional titles, several school records, and a long list of all-conference and all-state honorees.

Julianna Darmafall capped off an outstanding wrestling season by claiming a state title, one of the signature achievements of the year, and was honored as the Female Athlete of the Year. Ethan Yu was named Male Athlete of the Year, following a standout year on the track that included 1st Team All-Conference recognition in the 800m and multiple additional all-conference honors across the season. Chris Reynolds was recognized as Coach of the Year for cross country, guiding a program that saw both the men's and women's teams reach the postseason — with the women's cross country team capturing both league and regional championships, and the men's team finishing as league and regional runner-up.

The women's swim and dive team also claimed a league championship, backed by standout individual performances throughout the season.

Records Rewritten

Several Eagles etched their names into the record book this year. Bryson Weibler turned in a historic baseball season, setting new records for career hits, RBIs, runs scored, and stolen bases. Roman Galindo set a new program record for pitching strikeouts. On the track, Micah Shoemaker broke the mile record, while Kayla Schroder set a new long jump mark. In the pool, Russell Murphy set new diving records in both the 6-dive and 11-dive events, Jacob Cook broke the 100 breaststroke record, Mireille Gazdaru set a new mark in the 100 fly, and Cora Jorgensen broke the record in the 100 backstroke. On the field, Glenna Rogers set new records in both the shot put and discus.

Recognizing Excellence Across Every Season

Across the fall, winter, and spring seasons, Liberty Common student-athletes earned a combined 19 First Team All-Conference selections, 24 Second Team All-Conference selections, 3 Honorable Mention selections, and 7 All-State selections — spanning sports ranging from soccer, cross country, and golf to basketball, wrestling, swim and dive, baseball, and track and field. A number of athletes were recognized multiple times throughout the year, reflecting the versatility and dedication so many Eagles bring to their sports.

Liberty Common's student-athletes also excelled in the classroom, with 45 Academic All-State honorees and 25 Academic Honorable Mention recipients this year — a testament to the balance of athletic and academic excellence that defines the Liberty Common program.

Liberty Common also celebrated its three-sport athletes this year — a group of student-athletes who competed at the varsity level across all three seasons, exemplifying the well-rounded commitment the athletic program strives to cultivate. This year's three-sport honorees included Eva McKnight, Olivia Felix, Hannah Aristoff, Bowyn Caudill, Zaylah Farrell, Norah Ranstrom, Liam Campbell, and Beth Patawaran.

More Than a Scoreboard

While the banquet celebrated wins, titles, and records, it also reinforced what has always set Liberty Common athletics apart: the character, sportsmanship, and academic commitment student-athletes bring to everything they do. Guests, dressed in formal attire to honor the significance of the evening, heard from coaches across all 14 varsity programs as they recognized the athletes who best represented those values throughout the year.
