Men and Women's Basketball makes CHSAA Playoff's

The Liberty Common Eagles men’s and women’s varsity-basketball teams are gearing up for the first round of the state playoffs.

The women’s team earned the 31st seed and will travel to La Jara to take on Centauri on Fri 7 Mar 2025 at 3:00PM. They are led by Second Team All-Conference player Akeeva Farrell and All-Conference Honorable Mention Emily Geyser. Geyser leads the team in scoring with 14.3 points per game, while Farrell has been a key contributor, shooting 53% from the free-throw line. The Eagles finished with an 8–15 overall record, placing 9th in the highly competitive Patriot League. This marks its first playoff appearance since the 2022–2023 season.

The men’s team, earning a state tournament berth for the second consecutive year, will head to Yuma to face Buena Vista on Fri 7 Mar 2025 at 7:00PM. Leading the way is First Team All-Conference selection Pierce Richardson, who averages 18.3 points per game with a team-best 48% field goal percentage. Second Team All-Conference honorees Caiden Castillo and Grayson Clay also play pivotal roles. Castillo contributes 12.9 points per game and leads the team with 2.7 assists per game, while Clay provides a spark from beyond the arc, shooting 33% from three-point range, and on defense, averaging 2.7 steals per game.
